London tin prices continued their strong rally this year to a record high as supply disruptions caused by the outbreak tightened a market where demand was recovering. At one point, tin on the London Metal Exchange (LME) rose 2.9 per cent to $36500 a tonne. Tin has risen 77% so far this year, making it the best performer among base metals; tin prices have broken the previous record set this summer.
