As US stocks rise all the way, including the popular "Meme stocks" game stationUs-listed companies, including AMC, are scrambling to issue new shares, taking advantage of high valuations.
According to the latest data from Dealogic, as of Aug. 24, 556 listed companies in the United States have issued new shares, the highest number since 1996. The amount of new shares issued by these companies totaled $75 billion, the highest on record and an increase of 70 per cent over the same period last year.
In addition to the two companies whose share prices have soared this year, Game Station and AMC, the companies that have issued new shares include the household name Zoom.And smaller "Meme stocks" such as Plug Power.
"people are starting to take advantage of the incredible rally in the market," says Josh Weismer, head of US securities at Mizuho. "I think we will certainly continue to see the follow-up market busy."
