“锂电池之父”吉野彰:苹果很快就发布Apple Car相关技术

"Father of Lithium Battery" Akira Yoshino: Apple Inc will soon release Apple Car-related technologies

Sina Science and Technology News on the evening of August 24, Beijing time, it is reported that Nobel Prize winner and "father of lithium battery" Akira Yoshino (Akira Yoshino) said in an interview today.AppleIf the company wants to launch the Apple Car electric car by 2025, it will have to release some relevant content by the end of this year.

Akira Yoshino said in an interview that as transportation and digital technology gradually merge into one industry and share lithium battery technology, there will be more subversion in the field in the future.

If self-driving electric cars become a reality, the way people use cars will change dramatically: instead of buying cars, people will use car-sharing services.

When it comes to wireless charging of electric vehicles, Akira Yoshino believes that there are two ways to charge cars wirelessly, but this still faces challenges in the short term. By contrast, it is easier for the car itself to know when to charge and drive to the charging station on its own.

The following is a summary of the interview:

Q: what technological innovations, including design, chemistry and materials, and even processes, may allow lithium ions to continue to dominate battery chemistry for electric vehicles, and for how long?

Akira Yoshino: there are two main areas of innovation that are key: the first is the new cathode and anode materials, and the second is the systems used in electric vehicles. In other words, how people will use electric cars, and how they charge and discharge.

Q: are you saying that people use electric cars in different ways? In other words, instead of owning a car, pay-per-view, for example, car sharing?

Akira Yoshino: yes, I think the greatest potential lies in sharing. If self-driving electric cars can become a reality, it will lead to great changes in the way people use cars.

Q: how long will it take for the wireless charging of electric car batteries to become a reality, whether through roadbeds, solar panels on vehicles or other ways?

Akira Yoshino: the basic technology of wireless charging is not a problem, the problem is how to apply it to the actual system. There are two possibilities: one is that the car is parked in a specific place where it can be charged wirelessly; the other is to charge wirelessly while the car is driving, but not on every road, but on some roads, which is possible.

When it comes to self-driving electric cars, compared with wireless charging, these cars will know when to recharge and then go to the charging station themselves, which may be more practical than wireless charging.

问:ToyotaHonda MotorA small number of "fuel cell" electric vehicles are being sold, but the hydrogen infrastructure to support fuel cells seems to be years away.

Akira Yoshino: for fuel cell cars, it has technical and cost challenges, but they can also be overcome. If you think about it in the longer term, self-driving shared cars will emerge from 2030 to 2050.

Suppose a self-driving car is powered by a gasoline engine, it could also be an electric car, even if it uses fuel cells. It doesn't matter what the source of power is, but it needs to be replenished in some way. If the vehicle cannot do this automatically without human intervention, then the system is meaningless. The same applies to gasoline or hydrogen.

Q: what else should we know about future travel?

Akira Yoshino: right now, the auto industry is thinking about how to invest in the future of mobility. At the same time, the IT industry is also thinking about the future of mobility. In the future, with the development of automobile industry and IT industry, there will be some degree of integration in the future of mobility.

TeslaIf you have your own independent strategy, what you need to pay attention to is Apple Inc.The company. What will they do? I think they may announce something soon. What kind of cars will they release? What kind of battery? They may hope to enter the car market around 2025. To do that, I think they have to announce something before the end of the year. Of course, this is just my personal guess.

It was reported in December that Apple Inc was promoting self-driving car technology, with the goal of producing a passenger car that could include its own breakthrough battery technology as early as 2024. Guo Mingyi, a well-known Apple Inc analyst, believes that Apple Inc's electric car will not be released until 2025 at the earliest.
