Bay area development(00737) announcing the results for the first half of 2021, the comprehensive daily toll income of Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway and Guangzhou-Zhuhai West Expressway in the first half of 2021 increased sharply by 103% year-on-year to RMB 11.37 million, with the total toll income totaling RMB 2.06 billion. During the period under review, the profit attributable to the owners of the company was RMB 287 million, compared with a loss of RMB 115 million in the same period last year; the interim dividend per share was RMB9.3 per share.
The announcement said that the toll income of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway and the Guangzhou-Zhuhai West Highway increased significantly year on year, mainly due to the epidemic situation of COVID-19, the national toll exemption policy was implemented from February 17, 2020 to May 5, 2020, resulting in a lower base of toll revenue compared with the same period last year, while normal tolls were charged in the same period in 2021.
The turnround of the company's performance was mainly due to the group's share of the net profit of RMB 302 million between the two highway joint ventures, reversing the loss in the same period last year and benefiting net exchange gains of RMB 14 million.
