Before Musk, auto makers were already complaining that Japanese Renesas and Germany's Bosch had limited car production. VolkswagenA spokesman said in January that talks had been held with major suppliers, including Bosch, about claims for semiconductor shortages.
Renesas said in early June that the burning chip factory would resume full production no later than mid-June.
