The Dow Jones Industrial average and the S & P 500 hit record closing highs on Friday after a stronger-than-expected jobs report and investors shrugged off fears that a variant of the Delta virus would affect the economic recovery. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 144.26 points, or 0.41%, to 35208.51; the s & p rose 7.42, or 0.17%, to 4436.52; and the Nasdaq fell 59.36, or 0.4%, to 14835.76. The S & P 500 rose 0.94%, the Dow rose 0.78%, and the Nasdaq rose 1.11%.
