TeslaCar registrations in China rose again last month as promotions near the end of the quarter helped offset a series of negative reports about customer complaints and quality concerns.
In June, a total of 28508 Model 3 sedans and Model Y sports utility vehicles produced by Tesla's Shanghai factory were registered, up 29% from May and more than double the number in April, according to the China Automotive Information Network.
Of this total, the number of registrations of Model 3 rebounded to 16995, while that of Model Y was 11513, down 10 per cent from May.
The strong performance of the Model 3 model is partly due to Tesla's promotional activities, including preferential loans and full upfront discounts. Tesla began delivering Model 3 to the public from his Shanghai plant in early 2020, while Model Y production was later.
