DJ China Snack Stocks Sink After School Store Ban -- Market Talk

0551 GMT - Stocks in China's snack sector are lower after state media widely reported the Chinese education ministry's recent decision to ban stores selling snacks in primary and high schools across the country. In a notice posted in June, the ministry said food rich in salt, sugar and fat, and drinks with alcohol shouldn't be sold to students in schools, a policy aimed at promoting a healthy diet among Chinese youth. Shares of Bestore Co., traded in Shanghai, and Three Squirrels Inc., traded in Shenzhen, are lower by 7.9% and 2.0%, respectively; they are two leading Chinese snack companies.
