Nike will fully raise product prices due to increased overseas procurement costs, with an increase ranging from 2 to 10 dollars starting June 1.

Nike also announced plans to return to the Amazon platform to sell its commodities directly and aims to enhance the retail experience through various channels.

U.S. tariff policies have put cost pressure on many retail companies, and Home Depot warned this week that some products even face the risk of suspension.

The impact of U.S. tariff policies on the retail industry is gradually becoming apparent. The American sports goods giant$Nike (NKE.US)$has announced that it will raise prices for commodities and resume direct sales on Amazon.

Due to the significant increase in costs of overseas procurement, Nike will completely adjust product prices, with varying increases for different commodities. According to an insider, the prices of footwear products selling for over $150 could increase by $10.

The price adjustment will officially take effect on June 1, more than a month before the end of the 90-day tariff postponement. According to the Trump administration, full taxation will resume on July 8, affecting important Nike suppliers such as China and Vietnam.

On the other hand, Nike is also expanding its sales channels. This is the first time Nike has announced its return to the Amazon platform since it stopped wholesale sales of its commodities on Amazon in 2019.

Earlier, Nike had abandoned collaboration with Amazon due to concerns that popular products on the Amazon platform might be impacted by counterfeit products, and wanted to establish connections with consumers through direct sales or more direct distribution methods.

A Nike spokesperson stated on Wednesday that the company is building a market to facilitate consumer purchases through various means. This includes distributing products on channels such as Amazon in the U.S. and Printemps department store in France to enhance the overall retail experience. Nike will also launch AI conversational search to improve online services.

Several companies have announced price increases.

$Nike (NKE.US)$It is not the first American company to announce a price increase. Last week, the American retail giant.$Walmart (WMT.US)$It was stated that due to the U.S. tariff policy, the company had to raise product prices, with the increase becoming more apparent in June.

Another American retail company$Home Depot (HD.US)$stated on Tuesday that although the company will not raise its product prices at present, some products will be affected by tariffs, leading to the complete discontinuation of certain product lines. Among them, Home Depot's main product—cork may have to face price increases, as 30% of cork in the U.S. market is imported.

Home Depot's competitor, Stanley Agriculture Group, explicitly stated that it has already raised its product prices by an average of 8% to 9% due to tariffs. The company will also conduct a second round of price increases later this year.

Walmart stated that the tariffs imposed by the Trump administration are too high, making it impossible for any retail company to absorb those losses. Walmart will strive to keep prices as low as possible, but the company has limited capacity.

Last week, Trump also faced criticism due to$Walmart (WMT.US)$$Amazon (AMZN.US)$And toy companies.$Mattel (MAT.US)$Plans to raise prices have been met with angry retaliation, stating that Walmart has made billions in profits and therefore should not continue to pass costs onto consumers, but should instead "absorb the tariffs." This statement serves as a warning to American businesses, yet so far, most American companies seem to be expressing signals of "limited capability," which is contrary to what Trump desires.
