More than a year after being affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, MicrosoftA bonus of $1500 will be paid to employees.

As companies reopen office facilities and employees consider possible job changes, such care may help reduce the impact of the Great Resignation trend.

The bonus, which will cost Microsoft about $200 million, is a gesture of gratitude to employees for their efforts for customers and partners over the past year, a Microsoft spokesman said on Thursday. At the end of the first quarter, the company had more than $125 billion in cash, equivalents and short-term investments.

Kathleen Hogan, Microsoft's chief personnel officer, announced the bonus in a message to employees on Thursday. Bonuses will be paid to employees in the US and overseas in July or August, but Microsoft vice presidents will not receive them, nor will employees of subsidiaries GitHub, LinkedIn and Zenimax, Hogan said.

During the outbreak, some technology companies provided employees with points for food delivery apps such as Uber Eats to help them pay for meals. Other companies have also handed out care packages or provided extra vacation time. Microsoft reportedly offered employees five extra days of paid leave earlier this year.
