According to an online survey conducted by Investing.com this month, nearly 2/3 (63%) of American investors believe that TeslaCEO Elon Musk is the most influential person in the financial markets.
Meanwhile, when it comes to manipulating financial markets, 52 per cent of investors support policies that weaken the influence of people like Mr Musk.
The findings are not surprising. Recently, Musk has had a significant impact on bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies. Although it is difficult to find out the exact reason behind the fluctuation of the cryptocurrency, every time Musk is on TwitterWhen a cryptocurrency is mentioned, its price fluctuates sharply.
Musk's tweets about the impact of bitcoin on the environment prompted some investors to sell their bitcoins, according to the survey.
Thirty-eight percent of respondents said they were not worried about the impact of bitcoin on the environment until Musk posted the message on Twitter.
Meanwhile, 30% of bitcoin investors surveyed sold bitcoin last month, and 20% attributed the sale to Musk's comments on the environment.
However, 84% of respondents disagreed that the future of Bitcoin depends on Mr Musk.
Investors also seem to be divided over whether Musk's tweets should be taken seriously. Thirty-three percent thought his cryptocurrency tweets were "annoying", 27 percent thought they were "interesting", 22 percent thought they were "unfair", and 28 percent said they were indifferent. Respondents can choose multiple answers to this question.
