Soros fund bottomed out Archegos stocks

According to the 13F report, Soros Fund Management bought some stocks that plummeted due to the explosion of Archegos's positions in the first quarter, including $194 million of Viacom CBS (ViacomCBS), more than $8 million of Discovery Communication (Discovery) and $77 million of Baidu, Inc..

In addition, the company also bought shares worth $46 million in Vipshop Holdings Limited and $34 million in Tencent Music.

Soros Fund Management did not hold a stake before the Archego fund burst, according to people familiar with the matter.

The following picture shows the top five shares sold by Soros Fund in the first quarter. Among them, the first Palantir (PLTR) was cleared of 18.46 million shares, with a market capitalization of about US $434 million, while the second communications group Liberty Broadband reduced its holdings by 1.07 million shares, or about US $160 million.

In third place was emerging Market ETF iShares MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (EEM), which was liquidated with 2.51 million shares held in the fourth quarter of last year, with a market capitalization of nearly $130 million.

In terms of sectors, Soros had the largest share of position finance in the first quarter, with more than 30%, followed by communications (about 27%) and non-essential consumer goods (about 19%).
