Toronto Stocks Climb Friday, Silvercorp Leads

Friday, Toronto stocks advanced. By the numbers, the $S&P/TSX Composite index (.SPTSX.CA)$ traded +0.54%, while the $S&P/TSX Completion Index (.TX40.CA)$ climbed 0.47%.

$Silvercorp Metals Inc (SVM.CA)$ was leading the TSX, up 5.6% after the firm boosted its full year earning projections, despite a drop in its Q4 profit.

$Gildan Activewear Inc (GIL.CA)$ led the TSX60, up 5.3% after the announced return of former CEO Glenn Chamandy and a new board. The firm has faced a succession battle that pushed it toward a volatile future, analyst Brian Morrison told WSJ.

Overall, about 935 equites climbed in Canada compared to 667 falling.
