The Dentsu Group (brand: “dentsu”; headquarters: Dentsu Group, Inc.; location: Minato-ku, Tokyo; representative: Hiroshi Igarashi, President and Global CEO; hereafter “Our Group”) has introduced the “2030 Sustainability Strategy” in 2021 as one of the pillars of its medium-term management plan※1” has been updated. The aim of this strategic update is to respond more proactively as One dentsu to the rapid changes in the business environment surrounding the Group and the world's circumstances and perceptions related to sustainability, and to fulfill our responsibilities to society and stakeholders. Based on this strategy, we aim to realize the sustainability of our Group and society by “generating future ideas that solve difficult social issues.”

Furthermore, in the newly updated “2030 Sustainability Strategy,” after identifying 5 important issues to be addressed across the 3 priority areas of “people,” “planet,” and “innovation,” goals, action plans, and KPIs are set for each important issue※2I did it. The promotion of the 2030 Sustainability Strategy and the progress of various initiatives to address the five key issues are discussed by the Group Sustainability Committee※3We will continue to evaluate and manage it through.

Our group exists to create unprecedented ideas and solutions while connecting with people with diverse perspectives, and to realize the sustainable development of society and companies. We will stand at the forefront of “people-centered transformation,” set a vision to realize a society full of joy and vitality in which people live through creating positive momentum for society, and by promoting a new “2030 Sustainability Strategy,” we will create future ideas that solve difficult social issues.

[Comment from Global Chief Sustainability Officer Yuko Kitaze]
In order for dentsu to truly contribute to the future growth of customers and society, efforts aimed at creating non-financial value are extremely important. DENTSU's sustainability strategy is to generate future ideas that solve difficult social issues. It's not just good if it's sustainable. We are creating possibilities for the future. To that end, we first draw an ideal future without being bound by current restrictions. Instead of thinking about how that future can be realized as an extension of the past, I am free to think about it. Furthermore, I believe we can contribute to promoting sustainability in society as a whole by making use of the “human insight” we have cultivated since our founding and bringing about changes in people's way of thinking and behavior.

Furthermore, it is important to share with all stakeholders not only the company's short-term profits, but also the value of emphasizing medium- to long-term sustainability of society. Together with stakeholders involved in marketing communication, we aim to discuss what the entire industry should look like for the realization of a decarbonized society.

Collaboration between business, government, and civil society is key to creating social value. The power to connect the three. This is one of Dentsu's greatest strengths. By connecting the three parties and utilizing the creativity of diverse human resources active globally, we will cause and drive systemic changes leading to future possibilities in the following five high-impact areas.

  • Accelerating our own sustainability transformation
  • Drive industry transformation
  • Form partnerships between different industries
  • Promoting sustainable choices in society
  • Make proposals to change the structure of society

We will transform society through corporate activities with the spirit of “creating the future of society together with others.”
