OpenAI联合创始人苏茨克沃将离职

OpenAI co-founder Sudskevo will step down

環球市場播報 ·  May 14 19:44

On the evening of May 14, local time, OpenAI co-founder and chief scientist Ilya Sutskever (Ilya Sutskever) announced on social networking platform X that he will leave the company after nearly ten years.

Sudskovo wrote, “After almost ten years of OpenAI, I decided to leave. The company's development trajectory is a miracle, and I believe OpenAI will create an AGI that is both safe and beneficial under the leadership of Sama (Sam Altman), gdb (Greg Brockman), MiraMurati, and now under meretm (Jakub Pachocki)'s outstanding research leadership.”

Sutskovo said, “It was an honor to work together, and I will miss everyone very much. Bye, and thank you for everything. I'm excited about what's next — it's a very meaningful project for me personally, and I'll share details in due course.”

Sutskovo also posted a group photo of himself with the four colleagues mentioned in the post.

In the OpenAI board of directors tried to get rid of Altman's “palace fight” in November of last year, there were rumors that Sutskevo was the initiator of this storm, but he later said he was very sorry for his participation in the board of directors.

Under Sutskovo's post announcing his departure, some netizens asked, “But what did you actually see?” This refers to the legendary OpenAI mystery project “Q”.

Other netizens joked, “Hurry up and join Tesla or xAI now.”

Sutskovo is very famous in the field of artificial intelligence, which dates back to his research on neural networks at the University of Toronto and continues to work at Google's Google Brain Lab (Google Brain Lab). When OpenAI was founded in 2015, Sutskevo was the head of research, and he was personally recruited by Elon Musk.

After Sutskevo announced his departure, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman posted on X: “Ilya and OpenAI will part ways. It saddens me; Ilya is certainly one of the smartest people of our generation, a guiding light in our field, and a dear friend. His talent and vision are well known; his passion and compassion are less well-known, but just as important.

Without him, OpenAI wouldn't be where it is today. Although he has some personally significant things to do, I am forever grateful for everything he does here and is committed to the mission we began together. I'm so happy to be with such a truly remarkable genius and someone so focused on creating the best future for humanity for so long.

Jakub (Pachocki) will be our new chief scientist. Jakub is also one of the greatest thinkers of our generation; I'm so happy he's taking over the baton here. He has managed many of our most important projects, and I am very confident that he will lead us to rapid and safe progress towards our mission to ensure that AGI benefits everyone.”
