KUALA LUMPUR (May 14): Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) said its subsidiary Malaysia LNG Group of Companies (MLNG) experienced an electricity supply disruption last Friday at the Petronas LNG Complex (PLC) in Bintulu.

In a statement on Tuesday, Petronas said the incident occurred around 11.30pm last Friday, with the facility operating at optimal efficiency before the outage.

"The cause of the power loss has been identified, and start-up efforts to resume operations are currently in progress," Petronas said.

Petronas added that MLNG is actively communicating with partners and customers to minimise the incident's impact, and fulfil its contractual commitments.

The PLC, situated in Sarawak, houses three liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants within the complex. With a production capacity of about 30 million tonnes per annum, the facility supplies customers in Japan, China and South Korea, among others, and ranks among the largest LNG facilities globally.
