KUALA LUMPUR (May 13): Al Rajhi Banking & Investment Corporation (Malaysia) Bhd has named Mohd Syahrul Ishak as chief executive officer effective Monday.

Mohd Syahrul, a former executive of CIMB Bank, will take over the lead from Muhammed Uzman Muhammed Faleel, its chief risk officer who stepped up as interim chief executive officer following the resignation of Arsalaan Ahmed, Al Rajhi Malaysia said in a statement.

“Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia has undergone a remarkable transformation, and I’m committed to further strengthening our position,” Mohd Syahrul said. “We will continue to deliver innovative Shariah-compliant solutions, catering to the evolving financial needs of our customers, employees, and communities.”

Mohd Syahrul is former managing director and regional head for cash management at CIMB Bank’s transaction banking business. Prior to that, he was regional head of consumer banking at CIMB Islamic Bank and he headed the cards acquisition and personal financing business at CIMB Bank.
