AMD has finally fulfilled its promise, releasing complete documentation of the RDNA 3 GPU's Micro Engine Scheduler (MES) firmware.
AMD Switches To Open-Source Mode, More RDNA 3 GPU Documentation Now Available
Well, we are well aware of the open-source fiasco and how the famous startup firm TinyGrad battled against AMD over the internet simply because they were against open-sourcing of resources, which ultimately forced the AI startup to switch to alternatives such as those from NVIDIA and Intel.
This did lead to some changes by AMD in their approach towards software assets, with the firm shifting to open-sourcing to a certain extent, as revealed in the latest MES documentation move.
Micro engine scheduler (MES) firmware is responsible for the scheduling of the graphics and compute work on the AMD RDNA™ 3 GPUs.
This document provides an overview of the AMD RDNA 3 scheduling architecture by describing the key scheduler firmware (MES) and hardware (Queue Manager) components that participate in the scheduling. This document is intended to introduce the reader to the overall scheduling architecture and is not meant to serve as a programming guide.

Apart from MES, AMD previously announced that the company intends to open-source additional portions of its software stack and hardware documentation.
