KUALA LUMPUR (April 30): GUH Holdings Bhd said on Tuesday its construction division has secured an RM69.49 million contract under the Sungai Rasau water supply scheme project from Gamuda Bhd.

The contract involves the supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical process, surface aeration system, destratification system, and algae control system for the intake and raw water pumping plant and ponds, GUH said in an exchange filing.

The job is expected to be completed by June 30, 2025, GUH said. The subcontract entails the construction and completion of the works based on the main contract's terms, specifications, and conditions signed between Gamuda and Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd.

Gamuda could enforce liquidated damages of RM31,500 per day if the works are not delivered within the due or extended period.

The damages however, are limited to 10% of the contract sum and GUH aims to offset this risk by imposing similar charges on the nominated sub-contractors and suppliers if they cause delays.

The defect liability period lasts 24 months from the issuance of the overall certificate of practical completion, which is anticipated six to twelve months after the subcontract work delivery to Gamuda, it noted.

Shares of GUH, which also develops properties and manufactures printed electronic circuit boards, closed at 37 sen, valuing the company at RM104.4 million.
