AMD To Launch EPYC 4004 CPUs For Mainstream AM5 Platforms: X3D 3D V-Cache & Standard Variants 1

AMD's upcoming EPYC 4004 "Zen 4" CPU family for AM5 platforms has been leaked and listed on eBay UK ahead of launch.

Seven AMD EPYC 4004 "Zen 4" Desktop CPUs For AM5 Platform Listed on eBay, Standard & 3D V-Cache Flavors

A few days ago, it was reported that AMD is making another addition to its EPYC lineup of CPUs. The lineup would be known as EPYC 4004 and sit alongside the higher-end EPYC 8004 and 9004 families. The main highlight of the AMD EPYC 4004 family will be that it will be supported on the existing AM5 socketed platforms which are largely available on the consumer DIY front but only feature Ryzen CPUs, not EPYC.

So starting with today's leak, the chips listed by the eBay seller include seven EPYC 4004 models which include the following:

  • EPYC 4584PX - 100-000001481 - 3D V-Cache
  • EPYC 4484PX - 100-000001482 - 3D V-Cache
  • EPYC 4384PX - 100-000001483 - 3D V-Cache
  • EPYC 4564P - 100-000001476 - Standard
  • EPYC 4364P - 100-000001477 - Standard
  • EPYC 4344P - 100-000001479 - Standard
  • EPYC 4244P - 100-000001480 - Standard

The EPYC 4004P is the standard variant while the EPYC 4004PX is the 3D V-Cache boosted flavor. The seller didn't list down the specifications of these chips and the naming convention does not reveal much besides the fact that these are Zen 4 SKUs with standard and 3D V-Cache configs. It can also be seen in the listing that the AMD EPYC 4004 CPUs have the same IHS & package as the AMD Ryzen 7000 and 8000 CPUs which shouldn't be a surprise considering that they are based on similar SKUs.

The seller who goes by the name of pccompd is very reliable so there's good reason to believe that these chips are the real deal instead of being fakes. All seven AMD EPYC 4004 CPUs listed by the seller are priced at $2000 US but that's not the case entirely. Actual buyers who are interested in the chips can talk to the buyer to get the real pricing. The only chip that is listed so far is the EPYC 4584PX but that has already been sold.

What to expect from the AMD EPYC 4004 platform:

  • Socket Compatibility With AM5
  • Based on Zen 4 Core Architecture
  • 1P (Single-Socket) Support
  • 3D V-Cache & Standard Variants
  • Up To 16 Cores & 32 Threads?
  • Up To 144 MB Cache?

The AMD EPYC 4004 Desktop CPU family is expected to launch soon. We are expecting to see up to 16 cores and 32 threads based on the Zen 4 core architecture but if AMD goes the Zen 5C route, we can also get up to 32 cores and 64 threads. The CPUs will offer up to 144 MB of L3 cache with a pair of 3D V-Cache boosted CCDs,  The most interesting aspect of these CPUs is definitely the fact that they will be supported by the AM5 platform but it is unknown if the chips will be compatible with DIY motherboards that you can get off shelves.
