According to the Zhitong Finance App, Chenlin Education (01593) announced interim results for the six months ended February 29, 2024, with revenue of about 332 million yuan, up 3.23% year on year; net loss of 142.11 million yuan, net profit of 20.966 million yuan for the same period in 2023; loss of 0.01 yuan per share.
According to the announcement, the loss was mainly due to the following reasons: in order to further recruit, train and retain talented teachers and other professionals and continue to increase the teacher staffing ratio, the Group's staff costs increased by about RMB 33.84 million over the same period in 2023; and to further improve the quality of education services, the Group's education operating expenses, including student activities and training fees, increased by about RMB 13.15 million year-on-year during the period.
On February 29, 2024, the total number of students was 33,825, a decrease of about 6.75% compared to the total number of 36,272 students on February 28, 2023. The decrease is mainly due to the Group's adjustment of the structural ratio of undergraduate students to junior college and vocational students, which led to an adjustment and decline in the number of junior college and vocational students.
