Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nishi-ku, Yokohama-shi, Kanagawa-ken; President: Makoto Uchida) will challenge the 8th round of the Formula E World Championship Season 10 to be held in Monaco, where there is a traditional urban course, on 4/27 (Sat).

Oliver Rowland has been on the podium many times since past Monaco tournaments, and left a brilliant record of 2nd place in Formula E 2019. Roland, who has taken the podium 4 times in the last 5 tournaments of season 10, is expected to join the podium battle in the next round.
Sacha Fenestraz is gaining momentum, starting 13th and finishing 5th in Misano in the 7th round, and also entering the top 10 in both double header races. Also, the Fenestraz also recorded the fastest lap in history in qualifying for the Monaco tournament last year, and took 4th place in the final, so Monaco is a compatible course.

The 3.337 km long Monaco Circuit has some of the most famous sections in the motorsports world. There is a “Grand Hotel Hairpin” that turns 180 degrees, a high-speed “poolside chicane”, and “La Rascasse (La Rascasse)” with a tricky layout at the final corner. It is a difficult course to overtake, but there have been numerous overtakes in past Formula E races.

Tomaso Volpe, general manager of Nissan Formula E and managing director of Nissan Formula E Team, expressed his enthusiasm as follows.
“The team's morale is high due to good results in recent races. Maintaining a stable ride throughout the season is not an easy task, but we are facing it while having fun. Monaco is the circuit we're used to. Last year's Monaco tournament was one of our best races and I'm confident. Roland has been doing incredibly well lately, and Fenestraz is gaining momentum after the race at Misano. However, Formula E is evolving day by day, so we're always tightening our minds, managing our racing strategies, and fighting so we can get more points”.

Driver comments

Oliver Rowland

“I'm happy with the speed at the Misano Games. Of course, there are improvements, but we need to improve our condition with each session. Monaco is one of my favorite circuits, I've been successful throughout my career, and it's a special place. I think it's going to be a difficult race in terms of energy management, but Formula E has proven that overtaking at the Monaco circuit is possible, so we'll need to keep a good position before the final lap in order to get good results.”

“The double header at Misano definitely gave me confidence. I think there are still more things that need to be improved, but my goal is to move forward step by step in order to always fight on the front lines. I've learned a lot this season, but Oliver shared his experience in race management. Monaco last year was one of the highlights of my career, and I was able to perform really well. This weekend's race was a strong run in both qualifying and finals, and I want to get the same or better results than last year.”

The Monaco tournament will be held on 4/27 (Sat), and the final match is scheduled to begin at 15:00 CEST (UTC+2).

Prior to the race, the “Monaco Edition” of the soundtrack “Electric Legacy,” a collaboration between the Nissan Formula E team and contemporary German composer Matthias Reefeld, was released. It expresses the glamorous culture and atmosphere of Monte Carlo. This series creates editions based on the motifs of Formula E season 10's main venues, and the songs reflect the cultural characteristics, fan characteristics, and spirit of each city.
