GFL Environmental ·  Apr 23 00:00

Congratulations to GFL Environmental's Services facilities in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and Victoria, British Columbia, for being selected to receive a Call2Recycle Canada 2023 Leader in Sustainability award.

The Leader in Sustainability award recognizes Call2Recycle's contributing partners, including GFL's Saskatoon and Victoria facilities, for their exceptional environmental commitment and responsible battery management.

"We want to thank our GFL recycling and waste management team in Saskatchewan as they have always had the highest regard for our services," GFL Operations Manager, Recycling and Waste Management Services Rudy Willick said.

In 2023, GFL's Saskatoon facility collected 25,195 kilograms of household batteries and our Victoria facility collected 10, 297 kilograms of batteries through the Call2Recycle battery collection and recycling program, making GFL one of the program's top-performing partners.

"It feels great that we're able to keep a lot of batteries out of landfills, and we will continue to do our very best to increase this number over the years," GFL's Victoria Site Supervisor Igor Bacic said.

The branches collect batteries from the public, industrial locations, mines, commercial businesses, government buildings and more.

Throughout the year, GFL technicians at the facilities sort, pack and prepare the batteries for shipment to Call2Recycle.

"We are fortunate to work with a great team and appreciate the acknowledgement from Call2Recycle!" Willick said.
