Singapore's Strait Times Index rose on Tuesday, tracking overnight gains in North American and European markets.

During the day, the benchmark Singapore Strait Times Index ranged between 3,250.49 and 3,273.17, ending 1.47% or 47.55 points higher at 3,272.72.

According to data from the city-state's de facto central bank, Singapore's core inflation rose 3.1% year over year in March, easing from 3.6% in February. This was due to lower prices of food and services.

In corporate news, shares of Nanofilm Technologies (SGX:MZH) were up nearly 5% after the company posted a revenue of SG$39 million in the first quarter, up 19% year over year, thanks to strong performance by its consumer business segment.
