On April 19, Weibo published the “2023 Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance Report” (“ESG Report”), which comprehensively showcases the company's efforts in various fields such as cybersecurity and privacy protection, employee development, content quality, social responsibility, and green operation, covering the impact on Weibo users, content creators, employees, business partners and other stakeholders, reflecting our long-term commitment to sustainable development.

Looking forward to the future, Weibo will be committed to the beautiful vision of “making the world more beautiful with the power of Weibo”, continuously improving the environmental, social and corporate governance (“ESG”) management system, improving the level of ESG governance, and working with all participants and stakeholders in the Weibo ecosystem to continuously promote the sustainable development process of the company and society.

Weibo 2023 ESG Highlights:

1. Strive for lean governance and establish a platform of responsibility

Weibo is committed to improving the corporate governance system and improving the level of governance, actively implementing ESG concepts and integrating them into daily operations; always adhering to the bottom line of cybersecurity, highly respecting users' privacy and data rights, and building a trustworthy and controllable responsibility platform.

l Establish a complete business ethics system and regularly carry out special internal business ethics audits on a quarterly cycle;

l Weibo attaches great importance to the protection of minors. The youth model was launched in 2019. In 2023, the youth model was continuously iteratively optimized to provide a safe and clean online environment for minors.

2. Improve the content ecosystem and optimize the product experience

Weibo has always been user-centered, providing high-quality platform content and services, as well as a good platform experience. In 2023, we will focus on vertical content ecosystem development. Through continuous optimization of product functions, investment in R&D and innovation, we will create high-quality all-media platform content and empower content creators. At the same time, we are continuously improving the level of community governance and creating a diverse and inclusive content ecosystem.

l Weibo is dedicated to helping users stay connected to the world, discover new things anytime, anywhere, and achieve rich social interactions. In December 2023, the number of monthly active Weibo users reached 598 million, and the average number of daily active users reached 257 million;

l As of December 2023, the number of certified Weibo users reached 4.3 million, mainly including celebrities, KOLs, media, enterprises, government and non-profit organizations;

l As of 2023, Weibo has built 39 vertical fields including entertainment, events, hot topics, industry, lifestyle, traffic, etc., forming multiple interest groups and social ecosystems, and has become a comprehensive content platform that can meet the needs of users at different stages.

3. Stimulate talent vitality and create a diverse culture

Weibo is committed to building an inclusive, diverse and open corporate culture. While protecting the legitimate rights and interests of employees, Weibo continuously stimulates the creativity and vitality of employees, provides employees with broad development space and competitive benefits, and continues to explore ways to develop healthily with employees.

l Weibo continues to implement the principle of equal employment, maintains a diverse employee structure, and has established a perfect talent training system. The employee training coverage rate has reached 100%, and the training time per person is about 34 hours;

l Weibo values the rights and interests of female employees and focuses on the physical and mental health and career development of female employees. In 2023, the proportion of female Weibo employees reached 51.7%;

l Weibo provides employees with rich and diverse care and benefits, covering employees' lives, health, family, entertainment, etc.

4. Adhere to the “drinking water ideology” and practice social welfare

Weibo has always adhered to the public welfare concept of “drinking water source”, actively assumed social responsibility, focused on social and people's livelihood issues based on its own industry, played a role as a platform for emergency disaster relief, rural revitalization, and caring for people in need and vulnerable groups. It is committed to promoting traditional culture and creating social value with users.

l By the end of 2023, the WeChat charity platform had operated more than 24,000 charity projects and received nearly 50 million netizens' charitable donations totaling more than 700 million yuan;

l Weibo relies on its ecosystem to establish a social assistance system linking the government, public welfare organizations, enterprises, media, bloggers, rescue teams, and volunteers in various fields. In 2023, Weibo launched a total of 106 emergency disaster relief projects. The cumulative number of donations was close to 550,000, and the total amount raised was over 13.73 million. In 2023, Sina Group donated 10 million yuan to support disaster relief and post-disaster reconstruction in torrential rain areas, and 5 million yuan to earthquake-stricken areas in Gansu to respond to emergency relief and post-disaster reconstruction in earthquake-affected areas;

l Through the “Weibo Mutual Benefit Program”, Weibo invests 3% of advertising resources every year to support the platform's public service content;

At the same time, we give full play to the role of an Internet platform, spread the concept of ecological civilization, forge consensus on green social development, and spread the concept of low-carbon environmental protection to the public eye through practical actions.

l In 2023, the greenhouse gas emissions of Weibo Scope 3 were reduced by 16.6% compared to 2022 emissions, and the emission reduction target was achieved;

l Weibo insists on building sustainable data centers and reducing data center energy consumption throughout the life cycle of site selection, operation, and renewal;

l Relying on the advantages of the platform, Weibo actively disseminates the concept of green development and the achievements of ecological civilization construction. Through rich online activities, offline experiential activities and popular science education activities, Weibo enhances public awareness of participation, guides public attention to ecological civilization construction, and enhances public awareness of green development.
