Jim Cramer shares his thoughts on Netflix, Nordstrom, KB Home, Shopify and American Express

Jim Cramer's daily rapid fire looks at stocks in the news outside the CNBC Investing Club portfolio. Netflix : The streaming giant reported better-than-expected first-quarter results Thursday night, but its second-quarter outlook came in lighter than expected. Netflix also said that starting next year it will stop providing quarterly membership figures and average revenue per user. "The stock had been up way too much," Jim Cramer said, pondering the factors driving the more-than-7% decline Friday. "The numbers were excellent." Nordstrom : The department store chain's CEO and president — both members of the founding Nordstrom family — have shown interest in taking the company private . Nordstrom said its board is forming a special committee to evaluate potential proposals. Shares were higher by nearly 1% Friday. "They should just worry about operating" the company, Cramer said, referring to CEO Erik Nordstrom and President Pete Nordstrom. Cramer noted that previous discussions about taking the company private were scuttled in 2018 . KB Home : The homebuilder announced $1 billion share repurchase program and upped its quarterly dividend by 5 cents a share. "It's cheaper to buy your stock than it is to build your home, which is one of the reasons why the Fed is in such a jam here," Cramer said. Shares of KB Home rose about 2% Friday. Shopify : Shares rose more than 2% after analysts at Morgan Stanley upgraded the stock to a buy-equivalent rating. Analysts said the e-commerce platform provider still has operating leverage left to realize. "This is to I think stem the endless decline that is unwarranted because it's a great company," Cramer said. American Express : The company topped Wall Street expectations on the top and bottom lines. Shares rose more than 4%. "The stock was down initially. This is a cost of acquisition story. And the millennials and Gen Z don't cost a lot ot get but they have lifetime value that exceeds everything else. That is [CEO Stephen Squeri] bread and butter, and that's why that stock goes higher."
