Currently, large models are rapidly developing, and the amount of data processing and storage required is also exploding. How to use computing power efficiently and stably to enable AI to enter a wider range of application scenarios and deeper business processes, unleash the power of data, exert greater value, and become a social concern. On April 18, Kirk Skaugen, Executive Vice President of Lenovo Group and President of Infrastructure Solutions Business Group (ISG), shared his views on accelerating the implementation of artificial intelligence at the 10th Lenovo Tech World (2024 Lenovo Tech World).

According to Statista's estimates, global data generation will reach 181 ZB (zebite = 10 trillion bytes) in 2025, an increase of 90% over 2022.” But we only calculated 2% of that.” Kirk Skaugen said that AI is currently becoming a “disruptive” force reshaping almost all markets, and companies are paying more attention to using AI to make real-time decisions than before, which has created greater opportunities for computing and data management.

“This is why Lenovo is committed to bringing artificial intelligence to the data field.” Kirk Skaugen said that Lenovo's intelligent infrastructure is being applied more at the edge and cloud through next-generation hybrid AI solutions to ensure that customers and partners can apply AI faster and fully unleash the power of enterprise data, so that data can also become AI.

In the field of storage, Lenovo Group continues to expand its product portfolio, covering 95% of the market, and has become one of the world's top three storage and data management suppliers; In the field of edge computing, created the industry-leading Think EDGE product line to help customers bring AI to the place where data is actually created; In the field of intelligent computing, rated as the third largest AI infrastructure supplier by IDC;In the field of scientific computingIt has cooperated with 19 of the world's top academic institutions, including Peking University, Harvard University, and Oxford University, to build scientific computing clusters, and will continue to invest to strengthen the position of the world's largest scientific computing cluster supplier; In the field of green computingThe Lenovo Group owns the Flatiron Institute, the world's most energy-efficient scientific computing cluster.

At the conference, the Lenovo Wanquan heterogeneous intelligent computing platform was launched. It can provide the best computing power through intelligent matching, improve efficiency based on core algorithms, and achieve green computing power through innovation in liquid cooling technology. Chen Zhenkuan, vice president of Lenovo Group and general manager of Lenovo's China Infrastructure Business Group, explained that compared with other heterogeneous computing platforms, the Lenovo Wanquan Heterogeneous Intelligent Computing Platform combines five major innovative technologies, including computing power matching Rubik's Cube, GPU kernel state virtualization, Lenovo integrated communication algorithm library, AI efficient breakpoint retraining technology, and AI and HPC cluster superscheduler, which can help users skip complicated computing power selection and verification, improve computing power utilization and training efficiency, and save additional expenses due to uncertain failure factors.

This is not only an in-depth insight into customer needs, but also the result of Lenovo Group's 40 years of technology accumulation. According to Chen Zhenkuan, in the process of building AI-oriented infrastructure, Lenovo Group has accumulated three innovative capabilities, including being able to match users with the best computing power that has been verified and optimized; empowering users to make full use of computing power to improve computational efficiency; and using advanced liquid cooling technology to help users save energy and increase efficiency and break through the bottleneck of chip cooling.

Facing the Chinese market, Chen Zhenkuan said that currently China's intelligent computing industry still has ecological construction needs, such as technological innovation, industrial ecosystem construction, talent training and support, and security and privacy protection. These needs will drive the development of the industry and build a competitive intelligent computing ecosystem. To this end, Lenovo Group will jointly initiate the establishment of the Heterogeneous Intelligent Computing Industry Ecological Alliance with the China Intelligent Computing Industry Alliance to jointly build the Lenovo Wanquan Ecology, which aims to help the prosperity, development and innovation of China's intelligent computing ecosystem by integrating resources from various sources.

“Our strategy has been recognized by our customers, and the momentum in the industry is accelerating.” Kirk Skaugen said that currently Lenovo Group is simplifying AI deployment by providing professional services and continuously breaking through the boundaries of AI innovation with the aim of making artificial intelligence within reach.
