According to data released by the China Automobile Association, in March 2024, production and sales of new energy vehicles completed 863 thousand units and 883 thousand units respectively, up 28.1% and 35.3%, respectively. From January to March 2024, production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 2.115 million units and 2.09 million units respectively, up 28.2% and 31.8%, respectively.
In March 2024, automobile production and sales reached 2.687 million units and 2.694 million units, respectively, up 78.4% and 70.2% from the previous month, and 4% and 9.9%, respectively. From January to March 2024, automobile production and sales reached 6.66 million units and 6.72 million units, respectively, up 6.4% and 10.6% year-on-year, respectively.
In March 2024, production and sales of passenger cars reached 2.25 million units and 2.236 million units respectively, up 76.7% and 67.8%, respectively, and 4.7% and 10.9%, respectively. From January to March 2024, passenger car production and sales reached 5.609 million units and 5.687 million units, respectively, up 6.6% and 10.7% year-on-year, respectively.
In March 2024, commercial vehicle production and sales completed 437,000 units and 458,000 units respectively, up 88.1% and 82.8%, respectively, and 0.7% and 5.6% year-on-year, respectively. From January to March 2024, commercial vehicle production and sales completed 997,000 units and 1.033 million units, respectively, up 5.1% and 10.1% year-on-year, respectively.
In March 2024, domestic automobile sales were 2.193 million units, up 81.8% month-on-month and 5.1% year-on-year. From January to March 2024, domestic automobile sales were 5.396 million units, up 6.2% year on year.
In March 2024, 502,000 vehicles were exported, up 33% month-on-month and 37.9% year-on-year. From January to March 2024, automobile exports were 1.324 million units, an increase of 33.2% over the previous year.
According to statistical analysis by the China Automobile Association, in March 2024, automobile production and sales showed relatively rapid growth, with both passenger cars and commercial vehicles showing good performance; new energy vehicles continued to grow rapidly and had a stable market share of 30%; vehicle exports remained high and continued to play a positive role in driving industry growth; Chinese brands continued to improve, and market share remained high.
