Singapore Shares Up at Market Close; Metis Energy Shares Plummet 40% on Solar Energy Agreement

Singapore's Strait Times Index started the day marginally lower on Tuesday but moved into the positive territory as the session progressed, despite subdued performance in the US market.

During the day, the benchmark Singapore Strait Times Index ranged between 3,230.48 and 3,252.82, ending 0.4% or 12.83 points lower at 3,247.72.

In corporate news, Metis Energy's (SGX:L02) shares closed 40% lower on Tuesday, as the company formalized a long-term power purchase agreement with Australian renewable energy company SmartestEnergy Australia for Gunsynd Solar Farm in Queensland.

Beng Kuang Marine's (SGX:BEZ) shares surged 12% after the company appointed Chua Beng Hock as the company's new chief operating officer.

Shares of Mooreast Holdings (SGX:1V3) fell nearly 6% on Tuesday's close, even as the company received an order to supply anchors for a pre-commercial floating offshore wind farm project in Southern France.
