Sina Technology News reported on the afternoon of March 28 that the 11th China Online Audiovisual Conference was held in Chengdu. Sun Zhonghuai, vice president of Tencent and CEO of Tencent Video, delivered a speech at the main forum of the conference. Sun Zhonghuai said that the high-quality development of the online audiovisual industry has entered a mature period, the level of content creation continues to improve, good works have appeared one after another, new business formats and models have begun to be introduced in commerce, and industry growth has entered a positive cycle.

Sun Zhonghuai pointed out that the online audiovisual industry is a community of destiny, and a sense of mission comes first. The economic scale of long video is gradually growing. The development of Tencent Video is related not only to its own economic scale, but also to the upstream and downstream platforms. Tencent Video accounts for a significant proportion of content production and procurement in the industry. Only by expanding the cake can we drive the upstream and downstream platforms and inject more confidence into the industry.

Sun Zhonghuai said that looking forward to the future, there are three key factors for the industry to achieve healthy development. “The first is to change the mode of growth, provide the industry with more certainty and build confidence, from extensive growth to steady growth in the form of heavy snow in Changpo, less aggressive and more patient. The second is to provide more outstanding works and cultivate creative enthusiasm. The essence of platform business is content power, and the key is support for good content. The third is to find a starting point for the next era. Artificial intelligence is emerging, and we must always stick to putting the user first during technological changes.”

Sun Zhonghuai said, “AI will have an impact on the creation of short videos in the short term, but the impact on long videos still needs to be observed. I recently heard feedback from exchanges in Los Angeles that the Actors' Union and the Screenwriters' Union are quite concerned and resistant to AI, but the visual effects industry is very supportive.” (Xu Yuanlei)
