This partnership will help automation customers build the factory of the future

SHANGHAI, March 28, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Recently, Rockwell Automation (NYSE: ROK), one of the world's leading companies in industrial automation, informatization, and digital transformation, announced a partnership with NVIDIA (NVIDIA) to accelerate the construction of next-generation industrial systems.

As a $15 trillion global industry, manufacturing affects every aspect of human survival and development, from clean water to food, life-saving medicines and therapies, sustainable energy, and automotive mobility. Rockwell plans to drive the industry by building the factory of the future to help automation customers easily digitize industrial processes. In the future, factories will enhance sensing capabilities through machine vision, speed up the calculation speed of control systems, enhance simulation capabilities with learning agents, widely use autonomous mobile robots (AMR), and provide generative AI (GenAI) experiences to enhance the information retrieval capabilities of first-line operators.

“Rockwell's partnership with Nvidia will help drive future industrial operations and create value for our portfolio of software, hardware and services from the cloud to the factory floor.” Jordan Reynolds, vice president of artificial intelligence and autonomy at Rockwell Automation, said.

Rockwell will further integrate the NVIDIA Omniverse Cloud application programming interface (API) with its Emulate3D to provide users with data interoperability, real-time collaboration, and physics-based visualization to design, build, and operate digital twins of industrial-scale production systems.

“Given the high computational speed requirements for creating, simulating, and operating large-scale digital twins, the demand for this area is growing.” “Rockwell's integration of the NVIDIA Omniverse Cloud API with its Emulate3D digital twin application will make it easier to perform predictive factory analysis, including operation and simulation,” said Rev Lebardian, VP of Omniverse and Analog Technology at NVIDIA.

“Labor shortages” and the focus on higher efficiency are driving strong demand for intelligent automation and robots in manufacturing and logistics. Today, Rockwell can develop edge AI through the Nvidia robotics platform, and in line with the recent acquisition of OTTO Motors, it can provide AMR and process automation applications to industrial customers.

Manufacturers generally agree that AI is critical to maximizing business results, according to a recent Rockwell survey. In fact, 83% of manufacturers plan to use GenAI in their 2024 operations. Thanks to this partnership, Nvidia became an official member of the Rockwell PartnerNetwork, and Rockwell customers can also rely on Nvidia's applications to improve operational resilience, flexibility, and sustainability.

The NVIDIA GTC global AI event was held in San Jose, California from March 18 to 21, 2024. During this time, Rockwell collaborated with Nvidia and Microsoft showcased technology.
