Both Mobile and Telecom promised to increase the dividend rate to over 75% in the future

After today's market, China Telecom released its 2023 results. So far, the annual reports of the three major operators have all been released.

Looking specifically at it,China MobileRevenue was $1009.3 billion, up 7.7% year on year; net profit to mother was $131.8 billion, up 5% year on year; total dividend for the year was HK$4.83 per share, up 9.5% from HK$4.41 in 2022.

China TelecomRevenue was 507.843 billion yuan, up 6.9% year on year; net profit to mother was 30.446 billion yuan, up 10.3% year on year; total dividend for the year was 0.2332 yuan per share, up 18.98% from 0.196 yuan in 2022.

China UnicomOperating income was 372,597 billion yuan, up 5% year on year; net profit to mother was 8.173 billion yuan, up 12% year on year; total dividend for the year was 0.132 yuan per share, up 21.1% from 0.109 yuan in 2022.

Telecom's production and data business is growing rapidly

According to financial data, China Telecom's revenue in 2023 was 507.843 billion yuan, up 6.92% year on year. Among them, service revenue was 465 billion yuan, up 6.9% year on year, and continued to grow for 11 consecutive years.

Net profit to mother was RMB 30.446 billion, up 10.34% year on year; net profit after deduction was RMB 29.553 billion, up 8.7% year on year; basic earnings per share were RMB 0.33.

Looking at the fourth quarter alone, revenue was 126.74 billion yuan, up 8.21% year on year; net profit was 3.345 billion yuan, up 9.66% year on year, down 51.86% month on month.

Looking at it by business,China Telecom's mobile communications service revenue reached 195.7 billion yuan, an increase of 2.4% over the previous year. Among them, mobile value-added and application revenue reached 25.8 billion yuan, an increase of 12.4% over the previous year.

The net increase in the number of mobile users was 16.59 million, leading the industry for six consecutive years, reaching 408 million users; the ARPU of mobile users reached 45.4 yuan, an increase of 0.4% over the previous year.

Revenue from fixed network and smart home services reached $123.1 billion, up 3.8% year on year.

Broadband users reached 190 million, a net increase of 9.26 million; the comprehensive broadband ARPU reached 47.6 yuan, an increase of 2.8% over the previous year.

The production volume business, which includes AI, big data, and cloud computing, maintained rapid development. Revenue reached 138.9 billion yuan, an increase of 17.9% over the previous year; the ratio of service revenue reached 29.9%, an increase of 2.8 percentage points over the previous year.

Among them, Tianyi Cloud's revenue reached 97.2 billion yuan, an increase of 67.9% over the previous year.

The dividend rate will increase to over 75% in the future

As a typical representative of high dividends, the dividend situation of the three major operators is worth paying attention to.

Among them,China TelecomThe plan is to pay dividends of $0.09 per share at the end of the year, totaling approximately $8.236 billion. The dividend for the full year of 2023 was $0.2332 per share, up 18.98% year over year, totaling about $21.339 billion, exceeding 70% of shareholders' profits.

China MobileThe plan is to pay HK$2.4 per share at the end of the year, for a total dividend of HK$51,338 billion. The dividend for the full year of 2023 was HK$4.83 per share, up 9.5% year over year, with a full year dividend payout ratio of 71%.

China UnicomThe plan is to pay dividends of $0.0524 per share at the end of the year, for a total of $1,639 million. The dividend for the full year of 2023 was $0.132 per share, up 21.1% year over year.

Furthermore, both China Mobile and China Telecom said,Starting in 2024, profits distributed in cash within three years will gradually increase to more than 75% of the current year's profits, striving to create greater value for shareholders.

China Unicom, on the other hand, stated at the results conference thatThe dividend payout ratio in 2024 will definitely not fall below the level of 2023.
