Citi continues to be optimistic about Microsoft in the report and has a neutral view of Oracle; Snowflake may have “mixed feelings.”

Recently, Citibank attended the Gartner Data Analysis Summit and released the post-conference report on March 20. After communicating with partners, suppliers and customers, Citibank said in the report that expectations for the development of generative AI may exceed fundamentals.

Overall, generative AI will still be the most important concern for most participants, but the scale of the project and the nature of the use cases are still small. Businesses will face constant pressure to innovate and fierce competition. In the future, they will need to make strategic adjustments in new technology research and development, partnership building, and market positioning to maintain their competitive advantage.

When it comes to specific AI companies, Citibank has mixed opinions:

Microsoft (MSFT) — Positive

It has led the market trend by continuously expanding its generative AI platform. In particular, updates to Azure AI Studio and CoPilot features have received great attention from the industry.

Microsoft's close cooperation with DataBricks and OpenAI has promoted the application of GenAI technology in various applications, but its Fabric platform still needs further investment and strengthening.

Snowflake (SNOW) — mixed feelings

The Cortex platform's powerful advantage in accelerating application production. However, compared to Databricks and other competitors, deficiencies in cost management and workload management technology may affect its competitiveness in the market.

Oracle (ORCL) — neutral

Despite approval for its OCI second-generation products, large-scale ERP migration projects are still scarce, and customers are slow to move to the cloud and GAI projects.

Confluent (CFLT) — neutral

Although Kafka maintains a dominant position among developers, in the face of competition from larger vendors such as IBM and Cloudera, its profit opportunities may be affected.

Informatica (INFA) — neutral

Data governance and data quality are emphasized, but customers still regard it as a traditional ETL platform. Facing fierce competition from emerging suppliers in specific fields, there is still a need to accelerate the image transformation of traditional ETL tool suppliers.

Teradata (TDC) — neutral

Although AI Unlimited and Vantage serverless products aimed at breaking the traditional image have been launched, it is still difficult to change customer perceptions, and most customers still prioritize SNOW or DataBricks in their modernization efforts.
