According to the Zhitong Finance App, China Construction Fortis (00138) announced that it expects the company to have an unaudited comprehensive loss of not less than HK$500 million for the year ended 31 December 2023 (this year), while the net loss attributable to parent company equity owners for the year ended 31 December 2022 (previous year) was HK$465 million, an increase of 7.5% over the previous year.
The Board of Directors believes that the main factors for this year's unaudited comprehensive loss are as follows: estimates of unrealized net losses due to changes in fair value of the company's property portfolio and valuable collectibles held as investments; estimates of non-cash losses due to early redemption of bonds and issuance of convertible bonds; financing costs increased by about 47.4% due to rising interest rates during the year; and loss estimates due to the inability to recover Chinese receivables and other accounts receivable, which are secured by property charges in China and certain shares of companies incorporated in mainland China.
