According to the Zhitong Finance App, Lai Sun International (00191) announced interim results for the six months ended January 31, 2024. The group achieved a turnover of HK$3,087 billion, an increase of 22.84% over the previous year; losses attributable to the owners of the company were HK$1,117 billion, an increase of 36.41% over the previous year; and a loss of HK$1.264 per share.
According to the announcement, the increase in turnover is mainly due to the increase in the turnover of the Group's leasing business; the increase in property sales of the Lai Fung Group; the increase in the Group's hotel business, restaurant and catering product sales business, which is mainly due to the easing of COVID-19 restrictions; and the increase in revenue from Fengdeli Group's movies and TV programs. Despite this, compared with the same period last year, the Group's performance in theater operations during the review period was weaker than expected, partially offsetting this increase.
