Have Primoris Services Insiders Been Selling Stock?

Simply Wall St ·  Mar 20 06:14

We wouldn't blame Primoris Services Corporation (NYSE:PRIM) shareholders if they were a little worried about the fact that John Schauerman, the Independent Director recently netted about US$812k selling shares at an average price of US$40.61. However, it's crucial to note that they remain very much invested in the stock and that sale only reduced their holding by 7.7%.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Primoris Services

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the CEO, President & Director, Thomas McCormick, sold US$1.7m worth of shares at a price of US$31.84 per share. That means that even when the share price was below the current price of US$39.90, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. We note that the biggest single sale was 57% of Thomas McCormick's holding.

For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
