Singaporean Shares Recover Slightly; Singtel's Shares Up 1%

Singapore Strait Times Index mounted a slight recovery on Tuesday at the close, following mixed results in global markets.

During the day, the benchmark index ranged between 3,165.44 and 3,179.36, ending 0.05% or 1.62 points higher at 3,173.55.

In economic news, Singapore's total deals, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture financing, fell 13.2% year over year in January and February 2024, according to data from GlobalData.

Shares of Singtel (SGX:Z74) were up 1% after the telecom provider revealed that it will launch GPU-as-a-Service in Singapore and Southeast Asia in the third quarter of the year.

Shares of Aspial Corporation (SGX:A30) were down 6% after the jewelry retailer repurchased another 190,100 shares in the open market for SG$13,140.

Tiong Woon Corporation (SGX:BQM) issued a clarification announcement regarding an article published in The Straits Times on March 14, titled "Tiong Woon is a regional beater with an upbeat outlook."
