Swire Group A (00019) and Swire Group B (00087) announced their 2023 results, with continued operating revenue of HK$94.823 billion, up 4% year on year; profit attributable to shareholders of HK$28.853 billion, up 588% year on year; basic profit attributable to shareholders of HK$36.177 billion, up 661.94% year on year; profit per 'A' share, with a profit of HK$3.99 per 'B' share and a second interim dividend of HK$2 per 'A' share and HK$0.4 per 'B' share.
During the year, benefiting from some very large-scale non-recurrent projects, the Group achieved a record basic profit of HK$36.177 billion, an increase of 662% over the previous year. In particular, the proceeds from the sale of Swire's Coca Cola business in the US in September 2023, and significant revenue from the agreement signed by Swire Properties to sell the 12-story office building in the Hong Kong East Centre at a total cost of HK$5.4 billion (the basic sales proceeds attributable to the sale of nine of these office buildings of HK$2.7 billion were confirmed in 2023). These gains were partially offset by depreciation of Hong Kong Aero Engine Maintenance Services Company and Deda Medical, losses from the sale of HAECO's cabin design and assembly solutions business, and provisions made for Plastics & Engineering.
