Recently, Guangxi Seven Color Pearl Material Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Global New Materials International (06616.HK), participated in the revision of the national standard GB/T 5019.5-2023 “Mica-based Insulating Materials Part 5: Hard Mica Plates for Electric Heating Equipment”. The newly revised standard has been approved and issued by the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration and the National Standardization Administration. It will replace the original standard GB/T 5019.5-2014 and be officially implemented on July 1, 2024.

The revised standard further stipulates the product classification, general requirements, defects and conductive particles, thickness and tolerances, performance requirements, test methods, inspection rules, supply forms and standards for hard mica sheets for electric heating equipment using peeled mica or mica paper, in an effort to provide a reliable basis for standardizing the design, production, manufacture and inspection of such hard mica panels, which is of great significance in promoting the quality improvement of mica insulation materials and the development of the industry.

Mica is a special functional material with excellent corrosion resistance, weather resistance, high temperature resistance, insulation, etc. It can be widely used in electrical equipment, aviation, aerospace, metallurgy, pearlescent pigments, cosmetics, plastics, coatings, etc., and is used as an excellent insulating material, refractory material, pearlescent pigment substrate, etc. This revision of the standard will further enhance the level of application of mica-based insulation materials in electric heating equipment and promote the development and technological progress of related industries.

According to reports, Global New Materials International is a leading enterprise in the field of synthetic mica. It has mastered the world's leading synthetic mica key core technology, and is the undertaker of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's key basic new material - synthetic mica project. According to Frost & Sullivan data, Global New Materials International is the world's largest producer of synthetic mica-based pearlescent pigments and the world's top three synthetic mica producers.

According to financial reports, Global New Materials International achieved revenue of 464 million yuan in the first half of 2023, an increase of 21.5% over the previous year; among them, sales of synthetic mica-based pearlescent pigments increased 23% year on year, accounting for a further 40% share of total revenue. The product structure continued to be optimized, and the high-end transformation accelerated. The company also successfully built a second growth curve and developed a variety of synthetic mica functional fillers for high-end applications such as cosmetic functional fillers and art paints. A research and development center was jointly established with Zhejiang University, and various new energy materials using synthetic mica as a base material have also been developed and commercialized.

According to reports, the second phase of the new seven-color pearl factory under Global New Materials International has held an unveiling and production launch ceremony. It is expected that the production capacity of Global New Materials International's high-end pearlescent pigments will increase markedly. Adhering to the “equal emphasis on endogenous development and epitaxial expansion”, the company also successfully acquired CQV, a well-known Korean pearlescent pigment company last year. With the release of production capacity and deep integration with mergers and acquisitions, Global New Materials International is expected to further strengthen its market position as a leading supplier of pearlescent pigments and synthetic mica.

Global New Materials International has always insisted on technological innovation as the driving force, continuously improving product quality and innovation capabilities, and participating in the revision of important national standards, which not only reflects the company's strength and influence in technological innovation and standard setting, but also affirms its influence and position in the global market, but also a strong proof of the company's high quality, standardization and technical strength.

The company said that it will continue to carry out standardization work in the future, promote high-quality development with high standards, promote the integration of scientific and technological research and standardization, strengthen research in key technical fields, help high-tech innovation with high standards, lead the optimization and upgrading of the industry, and strive to promote high-quality development of the industry.
