Singaporean Shares End Marginally Higher; Biopharma's Shares Climb 2% on Introduction of New Sublingual Wafer

Singapore Strait Times Index rose on Tuesday at the close, tracking overnight gains in the global markets after global equities ended mixed overnight.

During the day, the benchmark index ranged between 3,138.42 and 3,153.69, ending 0.1% or 3.05 points higher at 3,141.47.

In economic news, Singapore's business optimism index rose to 4.82 percentage points for the second quarter of 2024, higher than the 4.48 percentage points in the first quarter, The Straits Times reported citing data from the Singapore Commercial Credit Bureau.

Shares of iX Biopharma (SGX:42C) rose more than 2% on Tuesday's close, after the company added a new drug candidate, iXB 401, to its pharma development pipeline.

Kingsmen Creatives (SGX:5MZ) closed nearly 4% lower on Tuesday, as its subsidiary K-Fix Production agreed to sell a property in Malaysia to Hiroyuki Industries, according to a filing with the Singapore Exchange on Monday.

Hiap Hoe's (SGX:5JK) shares were up nearly 1%, after the company revealed that it had completed the acquisition of a luxury lodge in Australia.
