Bullish Driven Brands Holdings Insiders Loaded Up On US$1.09m Of Stock

Simply Wall St ·  Mar 10 08:49

Over the last year, a good number of insiders have significantly increased their holdings in Driven Brands Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:DRVN). This is encouraging because it indicates that insiders are more optimistic about the company's prospects.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Driven Brands Holdings

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when President Jonathan Fitzpatrick bought US$998k worth of shares at a price of US$23.76 per share. That means that even when the share price was higher than US$14.76 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when insiders have purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price.

Insider Ownership

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Insiders own 2.4% of Driven Brands Holdings shares, worth about US$57m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
