Trade Alert: President of Research & Development Solutions Of IQVIA Holdings W. Staub Has Sold Stock

Simply Wall St ·  Mar 7 05:40

Some IQVIA Holdings Inc. (NYSE:IQV) shareholders may be a little concerned to see that the President of Research & Development Solutions, W. Staub, recently sold a substantial US$3.5m worth of stock at a price of US$248 per share. That's a big disposal, and it decreased their holding size by 48%, which is notable but not too bad.

IQVIA Holdings Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the insider, Constantinos Panagos, for US$4.2m worth of shares, at about US$209 per share. That means that an insider was selling shares at slightly below the current price (US$253). When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. While insider selling is not a positive sign, we can't be sure if it does mean insiders think the shares are fully valued, so it's only a weak sign. We note that the biggest single sale was 100% of Constantinos Panagos's holding.

IQVIA Holdings insiders didn't buy any shares over the last year. You can see the insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. If you want to know exactly who sold, for how much, and when, simply click on the graph below!

Does IQVIA Holdings Boast High Insider Ownership?

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. IQVIA Holdings insiders own 0.8% of the company, currently worth about US$369m based on the recent share price. Most shareholders would be happy to see this sort of insider ownership, since it suggests that management incentives are well aligned with other shareholders.
