Several Insiders Invested In Alight Flagging Positive News

Simply Wall St ·  Feb 23 08:36

When a single insider purchases stock, it is typically not a major deal. However, when multiple insiders purchase stock, like in Alight, Inc.'s (NYSE:ALIT) instance, it's good news for shareholders.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Alight

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Independent Director Richard Massey for US$322k worth of shares, at about US$6.45 per share. We do like to see buying, but this purchase was made at well below the current price of US$8.92. Because the shares were purchased at a lower price, this particular buy doesn't tell us much about how insiders feel about the current share price.

In the last twelve months Alight insiders were buying shares, but not selling. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Insiders At Alight Have Bought Stock Recently

Over the last three months, we've seen a bit of insider buying at Alight. insider Matthew Levin shelled out US$25k for shares in that time. It's good to see the insider buying, as well as the lack of recent sellers. But in this case the amount purchased means the recent transaction may not be very meaningful on its own.

Insider Ownership Of Alight

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Alight insiders own 5.6% of the company, currently worth about US$279m based on the recent share price. This kind of significant ownership by insiders does generally increase the chance that the company is run in the interest of all shareholders.
