Singapore's Straits Times Index failed to build on yesterday's momentum and fell into negative territory at Thursday's close, despite overnight gains on Wall Street.

During the day, the benchmark index ranged between 3,138.22 and 3,165.33, ending 0.42% or 13.24 points lower at 3,142.91.

In corporate news, Manulife US REIT's (SGX:BTOU) shares rose nearly 2% on Thursday's close, even as the trust's distributable income for the second half of 2023 dropped 13.3% to $36.3 million, from $41.9 million a year earlier.

Fu Yu (SGX:F13) warned that it may post a loss for the financial year ended Dec. 31, 2023, sending the company's shares down 2% at market close.

Geo Energy Resources (SGX:RE4) closed 9% higher on Thursday, as it signed a coal offtake agreement with EP Resources for the Triaryani coal mine in Indonesia.
