Insiders At Endeavor Group Holdings Sold US$13m In Stock, Alluding To Potential Weakness

Simply Wall St ·  Feb 4 08:38

Many Endeavor Group Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:EDR) insiders ditched their stock over the past year, which may be of interest to the company's shareholders. Knowing whether insiders are buying is usually more helpful when evaluating insider transactions, as insider selling can have various explanations. However, if numerous insiders are selling, shareholders should investigate more.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

Endeavor Group Holdings Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The CEO & Director, Ariel Emanuel, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$5.7m worth of shares at a price of US$24.09 each. That means that even when the share price was below the current price of US$24.74, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. While insider selling is not a positive sign, we can't be sure if it does mean insiders think the shares are fully valued, so it's only a weak sign. This single sale was just 11% of Ariel Emanuel's stake.

Insider Ownership Of Endeavor Group Holdings

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Insiders own 0.5% of Endeavor Group Holdings shares, worth about US$53m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
