SmartFinancial Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In fact, the recent sale by John Presley was the biggest sale of SmartFinancial shares made by an insider individual in the last twelve months, according to our records. So it's clear an insider wanted to take some cash off the table, even below the current price of US$22.19. We generally consider it a negative if insiders have been selling, especially if they did so below the current price, because it implies that they considered a lower price to be reasonable. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. It is worth noting that this sale was only 25% of John Presley's holding.

In the last twelve months insiders purchased 17.87k shares for US$366k. On the other hand they divested 17.13k shares, for US$369k. Insider Ownership Of SmartFinancial

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. It appears that SmartFinancial insiders own 16% of the company, worth about US$60m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
