Simply Wall St ·  Nov 29, 2023 05:07

Whilst it may not be a huge deal, we thought it was good to see that the NewtekOne, Inc. (NASDAQ:NEWT) President, Barry Sloane, recently bought US$68k worth of stock, for US$12.99 per share. Although the purchase is not a big one, by either a percentage standpoint or absolute value, it can be seen as a good sign.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At NewtekOne

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Independent Director Fernando Perez-Hickman bought US$497k worth of shares at a price of US$12.28 per share. That implies that an insider found the current price of US$13.22 per share to be enticing. That means they have been optimistic about the company in the past, though they may have changed their mind. We do always like to see insider buying, but it is worth noting if those purchases were made at well below today's share price, as the discount to value may have narrowed with the rising price. Happily, the NewtekOne insiders decided to buy shares at close to current prices.

NewtekOne insiders may have bought shares in the last year, but they didn't sell any. They paid about US$14.28 on average. These transactions suggest that insiders have considered the current price attractive. Does NewtekOne Boast High Insider Ownership?

Insiders own 6.1% of NewtekOne shares, worth about US$20m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
