Driven Brands Holdings' Recent Gains Improve Losses On Insider Purchases Worth US$1.09m

Simply Wall St ·  Nov 19, 2023 08:16

Insiders who bought US$1.09m worth of Driven Brands Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:DRVN) stock in the last year recovered part of their losses as the stock rose by 10% last week. However, the purchase is proving to be an expensive wager as insiders are yet to get ahead of their losses which currently stand at US$518k since the time of purchase.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

Driven Brands Holdings Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when President Jonathan Fitzpatrick bought US$998k worth of shares at a price of US$23.76 per share. That means that even when the share price was higher than US$12.54 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when insiders have purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price.
