Cainiao Network, the logistics arm of Chinese tech heavyweight Alibaba Group Holding Ltd, has rolled out its half-day express delivery service in Beijing before the upcoming Singles Day shopping carnival, as part of its broader push to boost the logistics and delivery efficiency.

The service was launched in collaboration with Tmall Supermarket. Cainiao pledged to deliver orders in the afternoon when a consumer places an order before noon, while an order made before midnight will be delivered before noon of the next day.

Currently, the half-day express delivery service has been expanded to 20 cities such as Hangzhou, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Shenzhen across the country.

Last month, Cainiao officially filed its application for an initial public offering on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, a move that will make Cainiao the first Alibaba business unit to go public following a major restructuring.
