Atari SA (OTC:PONGF) has introduced a new replica of their classic Atari 2600 console called the Atari 2600+.
The unit is now available for pre-order at $129.99.
This modern version is slightly smaller than the original 1977 console and features modern connections like HDMI and USB-C, Kotaku reported.

This console is ideal for retro gamers as it can accommodate both original and recently released cartridges, preserving the iconic design with faux wood panels and the familiar red-button/joystick setup.
Moreover, the Atari 2600+ comes with a "10-in-1 game cartridge" featuring classics like "Adventure" and "Missile Command," and the company has started to offer new cartridge games for purchase as well.
For instance, Atari has released a new platformer "Mr. Run and Jump" ($60), and an improved edition of the classic maze shooter "Berzerk" ($30). These games are compatible with both the original 1970s Atari 2600 console and the new Atari 2600+ replica.
It's worth noting that the 2600+ uses software emulation to replicate the original experience and runs on a typical smart TV CPU. This choice might not satisfy purists who seek a more precise reproduction of the retro gaming experience.
The current Atari company, distinct from the original due to various changes, has faced financial challenges, including the failure of the 2021 Atari VCS microconsole.
